Student Reading Lists

In partnership with Richmond Public Library and Henrico County Public Library, we are presenting some of the books suggested for summer reading by local public schools for Middle and High School Students. Both of these library systems offer summer reading programs that include a variety of activities and prizes. The reading lists for 2012 will be available in April.

To listen to these books online, you must be a registered, eligible listener of the Virginia Voice, having a vision impairment or physical disability that prevents you from reading these books in print.   You may register to listen online in order to have access to all of the audio programs available on this site.

Browse through our collection of books in the Student Reading Lists, also located in the “Programs by Category” link under “Listen to us Online.”   To locate a specific book or author, type a keyword from the book title or the author’s name  in the “Search Programs” box. Check with your school system to see which of these books might be appropriate for your specific grade or course of study.

We have indicated which books are known to be available in commercial audio from your local public library, and which are available  from the National Library Service (NLS) in Braille or audio format.  In Virginia, subscribe to NLS books through the Library and Resource Center of the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired, (804) 371-3661 or (800) 552-7015.
