It was 1989, Princeton  (16th seed) tied Georgetown (no. 1) 49-49 with 1:41 remaining. In the final second, Georgetown triumphed, but Princeton put basketball’s underdogs firmly on the tournament calendar and March Madness on network TV for years to come.
